About the New CxA Examination
The updated CxA exam consists of multiple choice questions designed to test a person's ability to understand and apply commissioning concepts, and analyze the types of issues CxAs typically face on the job. This exam is based on the new occupational guidelines for Building Commissioning Professionals that was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy.

CxA Certification Data
For the period September 1, 2015 - August 30, 2016, 188 candidates took the CxA certification exam. Of these, 143 passed and 45 failed, for a passing rate of 76%. As of August 30, 2016, there are 1,193 active CxA's.
